Means of transport for health

In many areas of Africa, Latin America and Asia, church institutions run well-functioning hospitals and healthcare centres. Professional medical care also requires mobility. It is not uncommon for doctors, paramedics and nurses to travel with a MIVA transport vehicle. The forms of mobility with which MIVA helps in this area are multifaceted:

  • Bicycles or bicycle ambulances
  • Motorbikes or motorbike ambulances
  • Motorised, four-wheeled ambulances

For kilometre-long distances, the motorised, four-wheeled MIVA ambulance is essential. It copes with bad road conditions and reliably brings patients to the healthcare centre. Patient transport in the classic sense. But there are also other projects: Often the ambulance itself is a small healthcare centre. It drives out to the far-flung villages with specially trained staff. In this way, medical supplies and necessary medicines also reach those who urgently need help.

If the distances are not too great, bicycles or motorbikes are also used. These are mainly used by mobile health teams. Education about hygiene, different diseases and the distribution of medicines have top priority.

Access to healthcare must not remain an unfulfilled dream for anyone!
